Book Printing FAQs for Publishers

Our standard MOQ is 2,000 copies per title. From 3,000 copies, the unit cost becomes noticeably more economical. For runs below 2,000, please contact us and we will confirm what is feasible for your project.

Pre-press proofs take about 7 working days. Once the proof is approved and paper is in stock, bulk production is typically completed within about 20 calendar days. For larger quantities, we confirm the schedule for each order.

Yes. After the order and artwork are confirmed, we produce a proof from your files for your approval. Proofs for confirmed orders are free of charge, and bulk production starts only after you approve the proof.

Yes. For multi-component projects such as activity packs and boxed sets, we can proof the components together so you can review and approve the complete product at one time.

Yes. We can make a blank dummy using the actual paper for your project, so you can check the feel, thickness and spine width before printing.

We work on FOB, CIF and DDP terms. Goods ship from the Port of Shanghai.

Our standard terms are a 30% deposit, with the balance paid before shipment, by bank transfer (T/T). Letters of credit and other arrangements can be discussed case by case.

Yes. For publishers who work with us on an ongoing basis, payment terms can be agreed individually.

Yes. Recent shipments include 120,000 children’s books to a major UK retail chain in September 2026 and 17,000 children’s activity packs to Italy in August 2026. We ship FOB, CIF or DDP from the Port of Shanghai.

It depends on how each title is classified at US import. Children’s picture, drawing or coloring books are classified under HTS 4903, which has a Free general rate of duty and was not included in the Section 301 tariffs that took effect on books from China. Most of the children’s titles we produce are colouring and drawing books of this kind. Children’s story books in which the text carries the story are normally classified as printed books under HTS 4901; many books under that heading carry an additional Section 301 duty, currently 7.5%, with exceptions for some subheadings. Tariff rules change, so the importer’s customs broker should confirm the classification and current duty for each title, including sets with stickers or other components. Please supply print-ready PDF files with bleed set up by your designer. Our pre-press team checks every file against the print specifications before production, and text is converted to outlines before printing.

Yes. We print in any language. Because text is converted to outlines before printing, fonts and scripts are handled consistently.

For every order, we keep the proof you approved and the production records for the job. When the title is reprinted, we use them as the reference for the new run.

Yes. We print Pantone spot colours, and we can prepare a colour sample on the actual production paper for your approval before the run.

Hardcover case binding, section sewing, perfect binding, saddle stitching, die-cutting, lamination, foil stamping and box assembly are carried out at Anhui Printing Group’s facilities, with our team on site. Spot UV is completed by a specialist supplier.

Yes. We offer digital printing for runs of fewer than 2,000 copies. We also produce digital proofs every day as part of preparing new products for offset printing.

We can arrange CPSIA testing with an accredited laboratory on request.

Yes. On request we arrange EN 71 testing of your title at an accredited third-party laboratory. Testing is carried out per product, so please allow for the cost and time at the quotation stage.

Our outer packaging materials were tested by a third-party laboratory in 2026 against the heavy-metal limits (lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium) of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 and passed. The report covers the samples tested and is available on request.

Yes. Anhui Xin An Printing Co., Ltd. holds FSC Chain-of-Custody certification (certificate code ESTS-COC-251598), covering FSC Mix and FSC Recycled. FSC-labelled production is available when FSC-certified paper is specified for your project; please tell us at the quotation stage.

Anhui Xin An Printing Co., Ltd. holds Disney production authorization (FAMA, Facility and Merchandise Authorization) and Universal production authorization. The applicable scope is confirmed for each project before production.

Printing and binding take place at the facilities of Anhui Printing Group, our production partner since 2014. Anhui Xin An Printing Co., Ltd. procures the paper for every order, preflights the files before the press starts, and has its own team on site checking each stage of production through to packing. You work with one account manager from quotation to delivery.
